Lately, the distinctive smell of pot has been permeating my building's hallways. Somebody is seriously smoking out every minute of every day.
There are only 3 apartments in my building, so we're pretty sure we've narrowed down the to the second floor. Normally I wouldn't care, but recently recently my wife got pregnant... and she's not thrilled about getting a daily contact high every time she steps out into the hallway.
I don't care if they smoke in their rooms... but isn't it generally considered polite to be a good neighbor and stuff something under the door? I have lived next to many a stoner, but I've never experienced anything near this level of stonage in the hallways of a building.
So anyway, now onto the question I'd like to put to Mancouch.
I feel like I should do something about this situation, so that my wife and child don't have to hold their collective breaths when they walk in and out of the apartment. But I don't want to narc these guys out to the landlord... that just seems like such a low blow.
So here are my options:
- Knock on the door and talk to the stoners man to man. <-- the manliest option
- Leave a anonymous note on their door, asking them to stuff something under their door <-- the safest but most cowardly option
- Leave a signed note on their door <-- the compromise
I think I should knock on the door and ask them face to face. But a friend of mine who is an ex-stoner says that I am underestimating the amount of paranoia that weed can cause... and that somehow by knocking on the door, I am risking my life. I laughed him off, but then in the season finale of a show I was watching recently... a guy knocked on his neighbor's door, and the neighbor opened it and killed him! So now I am having second thoughts.
I don't think these guys are that paranoid. I mean, they are smoking a few bowls a day with the door basically open. I'm guessing they just forgot to stuff something under the door.
Any advice on how I should handle this? Option 1, 2, or 3... or something else entirely?

Yeah, you're probably on the stuff as you comment because once again, you can't seem to see what I've actually written and instead have twisted my words around again. Did I say you can't express your opinion? No I NEVER said that . . . I said you DIDN'T HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME; do you not know the difference? I also never said that he should go to the landlord FIRST; I would think that you would catch that the second time around, but here I am explaining it once again. I think you are just proving my point, yeah pot does affect the brain! It's useless trying to explain something to someone who can't even comprehend simple sentences without twisting things around. And BTW, there's also a difference between judging someone and stating facts; and the fact is, you can't read sentences without twisting them around; so I'm ASSUMING that you're either high yourself, or you're a troll just looking to get a rise out of people. As for me, I'm done here and am off to more intelligent conversation with people who have the skills to comprehend what others are saying. And yes I agree . . . you certainly do have a right to express your opinion, but I would make sure you understand what someone is saying before you start your attack. @slamjoe@xanga - sorry, but the facts from the link only pertain to directly smoking marijuana. no need to call the cops, all the guy needs to do is relay the message that his wife is pregnant and that he would appreciate it if they stuck a towel underneath the door.

I would say #1 be a man and just ask them to tame it down, they will understand. Come on they have no clue that you have a child on the way plus their just stoners and will understand. Its not like their violent drunks. Even better recommend them a herb vaporizer which keeps the smells down to a minimum. You won't even smell anything if they converted into vaporizing
