It was kind of heartening how many people came to the defense of Jessica Alba in our post about
. She seems like a nice person, so it was nice to see so many commenters rally to her defense!
There were two points made. The first one is that Sin City was actually a good movie. That may be true, but I'm not sure that Jessica Alba's role as a stripper/damsel in distress was a particularly challenging one.
But there was a further claim that Jessica Alba's movie Honey was a "really good movie":
x_Butterflies_and_Hurricanes_x: As far as Jessica Alba- I thought Honey was a pretty decent movie. I've seen it. It was pretty good and was a very popular choice back when I worked in a movie rental store.
mistersoulja: Jessica Alba isn't a very good actor, although i like her movie Honey.

I will never know if Honey is a good movie, because there is no chance that I will ever watch it. But only 20% of movie reviewers gave it a positive review on
Rotten Tomatoes! Come on... that's a pretty low score - anything under 60% is considered Rotten! Still it sounds like the movie did well at the box office - I'm sure the fact that Jessica Alba is once again half naked and undulating around (as a dancer this time) had nothing to do with the popularity of the film.
Based on the feedback, we're going to revise the official Mancouch Verdict on Jessica Alba as an actress. We still think she is almost always in terrible movies... but we concede that her better movies are when she plays half-naked strippers and dancers.
Let's settle Jessica Alba's movie skillz once and for all though. If you heard that Jessica Alba was coming out with a movie, would you want to watch it? Your answer can vary by genre:
1) Horror (The Eyes)
2) Romantic Comedy (Good Luck Chuck, The Love Guru)
3) Action (Fantastic Four, FF2)
4) The Stripper/Dancer genre (Honey, Sin City)

yea...I wouldn't want to watch any of those movies. Maybe if anything, the eyes. But wasn't that adapted from a popular asian movie?
I would. I've watched them all except for #2. I don't like her, but her movies are often fairly decent. ♥
Her movies suck because she cannot act to save her life. The Eye was a terrible attempt at a horror movie, and Honey was just ridiculous. My opinion =)
Honey was not a good movie, it was just a popular movie. I wouldn't want to watch any of those, but I imagine I would end up seeing them with guy friends or something. Such is my luck. After Dark Angel, it all went downhill in terms of interesting or good.
Now, now, I respect Alba for The Eye and I thought it was one of the better horror adaptions the year it came out (even though you gotta admit that american adaptions never live up to the original versions). It was a step out of her usual "let's do a sexy dance and make lots of money" role and a chance for her to dive into more serious acting. I think it would be interesting to see her leave the whole "hot girl" image and start pursuing different roles, because really, she will always be sexy. It's time for her to dig into the real meat of acting.
I'll only watch Sin City 2. She was incredibly sexy in that movie.

Nope. Wouldn't see any of her movies but she probably has the potential to be a good actress.
Was "Into the Blue" any good? Honestly, I only happened to see her in Sin City. Even though she's a beautiful gal, that would not prompt me to watch a movie simply because she's in the credits.
I liked her in Awake.
Awake was a decent movie. I like her action (FF1 and 2) and romantic comedy (Good Luck Chuck, Love Guru) movies.
The best movies from the select up there is probably Honey, Sin City and Good Luck Chuck.
i laughed my ass of watching good luck chuck. but the funniest character in that movie wasn't dane cook or jessica alba --- it was the dude from balls of fury.

She was really "nice" in Sin City.
Horror would be best. Fantastic Four was about the worst female acting I've ever seen in my life. Romantic comedy is not her strong suit, either.
Well, I love Jessica Alba and get excited when I see there's a movie coming out with her in it. I love Honey and have seen it over 20 times, but I liked her best in the movies Idle Hands and Awake.
The only thing she was ever in that was good was Dark Angel. Her movies sucked. Of course, I'm a chick, so maybe a guy would find other reasons to like her movies ^_^
EDIT: I'm referring to seven of her movies; those all sucked. I never saw Awake or the Chuck movie.
Meh I haven't liked any of her movies, INCLUDING Sin City. XD
I would definitely want to watch a Jessica Alba movie. At least the Action ones.
