Do you call things "gay"?
Growing up, everyone constantly called each other "gay", "retarded", or "lame" as an insult.
It lasted all through high school and didn't taper off until college. By the time I entered the work force, almost nobody called anyone else (or anything else) "gay" as an insult. Retarded and lame are still pretty common though.
Do you ever use the word "gay" as an insult? What do you do when your friends call something gay - do you laugh, ignore it, or call them out on it?

didn't calling people "gay" kinda go outta style sometime around 2004?
I do not call things "gay" as a synonym for stupid. That's extremely offensive.
I'm guilty of saying it a few times, honestly.
Yes, I do. Preferably if they are, in fact, gay.
i'm bi and i call things gay all the time. and so do my friends.
yes. thats the whole fun in being alive. being offensive and talking shit.
I've called things gay a few times but, meh, I think there are way better insults. My gay friend calls things gay all the time.
That question is SO gay.
yep, i do.
its funny how gay has changed from meaning happy, to homo to stupid.
pretty gay bro.
i say lame. but i don't say gay. cus i'm gay. so i would be dissing myself ;o
I don't hang out with anyone that uses 'gay' as an insult. One word: Loser. And if they're hanging out with me, bye bye. It's extemely childish and unattractive.
I use gay as in actually gay not as synonym for lameness. That's not cool.
i never use the word gay its such a bad unsult...unless the person is actually gay but even then its still not cool lol
well, i dont use the term "gay" for homosexuality, i interpret it as its literal meaning, so it doesnt make sense to me, but it does bother me that people use the word in inopropriate context. haha - that is SO lame.
I do I do! :o I use Gay = Lame back in high school, not anymore though
no I don't, but when I chaperoned my middle school brother's field trip recently I heard a lot of his peers saying it. So annoying.
i catch myself saying gay sometimes, half in a derogatory way, half in a true definition of gay. but i regret it in total. because i love gay people!
"Gay" was after my time. I still don't use it (except if I'm referring to homosexual people, of course).
The only time I remember saying it was when my guy friend tried on my skinny jeans for tacky day. "Dude, that's pretty gay!" but other than that, nah! Unless they say it to me first, then i might be like, "Your face is gay!" for lack of a better come back.
lol i do, but even around my gay friends - i'm working on a movement to give it a separate definition altogether. didnt it start out meaning something ELSE, btw??
I think it's an ignorant phrase to use...
Do I look like a jackass? Anyone who has to call someone gay must be 15-years old and listen to weak metal. it happens.
Not anymore, I try to ignore it.
