Is Wearing Sandals Unmanly?

I just finished reading a post on AskMen about guys wearing sandals - "Sandal Dos & Dont's". What was interesting about the post were the comments.

Every comment was negative and basically said guys should never wear sandals. One commenter went as far as to say, guys shouldn't ever wear anything but shoes and sneakers.

I was surprised by these comments because I thought more guys would be into wearing sandals and flip flops. When it's hot outside, I definitely wear flip flops or sandals. I couldn't possibly think about wearing sneakers when it's 95 degrees outside.

The commenters also said real men should never wear sandals. I disagree with that as well. A real man wouldn't give a sh*t about someone looking at their feet. On top of that, a real man would take care of his feet, maintain it at least a little, so it doesn't look like dinosaur feet.

What's even more surprising is the reaction you might get from women about your feet.

I didn't start to wear sandals and flip flops until I went to college. I was always afraid of what people might say about my feet. Most guys never showed their feet, they always wore socks, so I figured my feet probably just as bad as those guys.

The first time I decided to wear sandals without any socks, a few girls on my dorm room floor commented on my feet. It was a shock cuz I never thought girls even cared about a man's feet but apparently they do.

Ever since then, I wear sandals when the weather is nice. I've even worn them to just hang out with friends, going to the movies, etc.

What do you think, should guys wear flip flop and sandals or is that an unmanly thing to do?

I see no problem with wearing sandals around your house or at the beach.
Anywhere else... it might look a little tacky.

I think guys should wear what they want when they want. Having said that, I have teased a friend of mine about wearing "man-dals" but it's getting hotter out and I'd rather be seen with a guy wearing sandals than have to deal with sweaty, gross, smelly feet later on at home.

honestly i don't see the big deal about guys wearing sandals. i think it's stupid how big of social don't is for guys to wear sandals.i am a girl, but i hate hate hate sneakers or anything other than sandals and im sure there are plenty of guys that feel the same way. so who cares?

when the whether is nice or its a hot day then yes, wearing sandals is alright... flip flops? no... maybe i don't know.

I wear them in the warmer weather;the one thing I hate are those ugly plastic "shoes" with the holes all over them.Ugh...

to be honest, I kind of freak out when I see a guy's feet for the first time. it's like.. it's hidden all the time that it feels equivalent with staring at a guy's bare crotch for the first time.

As long as the toenails are clipped and the 6-inch-long toe hairs are trimmed, I don't see a problem with sandals or flip-flops on guys.
How are sandals "unmanly"? Historically speaking, a lot of "manly" men wore sandals...

For some reason those particular sandles look a little dippy to me (not that it would keep me back, if he is a hot dude, he will make it look cool to wear those), but flip flops? Totally fine

haha. my dad wears sandals on weekends and their the ugliest sandals ever and whats worse is that he wears white socks and shorts with them sometimes or at least he used to. hes now graduated to just wearing them without socks but its still the ugliest sandals ever.

i prefer flip flops. man sandals are ugly.
