Fighting: Would You Know When To Walk Away?
If someone was talking smack to you, would you know when to fight and when to walk away? What would someone have to say before you start to fight?

they would have to push my buttons a lot before i resulted in violence. the bigger person walks away. but i definitely defend myself and give as good as i get.
i dont hit people other than if they hurt my family :)
My motto is I don't start fights but if you insist, I'll finish it. Violence really is a poor way to settle differences, so many downsides and very few rewards. I find it rather odd that while I have no problem knocking or choking someone out in the ring, I have very little stomach for a street fight where someone might seriously get hurt.
wow ...
@nonurbusinessyo@xanga - Ah, that's exactly how I roll, too.
I truly don't believe in violence. Mm-hmm....however, if someone brings unnecessary, uncalled bullshit around
Most def' I will finish it
I don't think violence solves anything...the only fighting I condone is in self defense. So, I would never start a fight and I would never get into a fight...but if someone makes the decision to try and harm me they might be in for a surprise. I look sweet (because I am! ^_^) but I can lay your ass out...even then I'll know my match and deal with it accordingly. (Though I hope to never be in this situation.)
my limit is if you put your hand on me or your finger in my face past that you can talk all the shit you want.
*sigh* I have a bit of a temper, but it's not that bad. Still, I'd probably stand my ground with verbal retorts. I'd say the physical part should only be used in defense.
I'll walk away after i break his sternum.
I learned to just walk away and not fight (that's advice coming from a Green Beret). But he also taught us how to break a fight if the guy (or girl) won't stop.
The best way to win a fight is to not get into one. I have a high tolerance for shit, but if they do anything to make me start (like harassing my friends, touching my girlfriend or any girl friends for that manner), I get physical.
Someone would have to make a move to hit me first. Then I could react in self defense. No sense getting arrested for assault.
Want to know the fastest way to get floored by Captain Howdy? Talk shit about his family and friends. Anything else, I just walk away. But noone fucks with the people I care about and gets away with it.
when the first drop of blood hits the ground this means to start an all out war. but if the person has a weapon, then haul ass.
this is one of my bad traits.
its not that i dont have the patience to hold back and walk away, i just like to fight.
drunk or not.
I've literally had dreams of beating the shit out of this one girl...maybe she'll push too far one day and my dream will come true :)
I promise I don't have anger issues lol. I just reeeeally hate her.
I used to walk. But every time you walk they see you run. And they think you're scared, so they try again. So now I stand my ground. Actually I've been taking shit from an asshole who wants to fight with me now. He just randomly tried to start a fight, I warned him and wouldn't back down, so now he tries to get under my skin everytime he see's me.
He doesn't have the balls to throw a first punch though, and other than the fact that he wants a fight I have no reason to fight him. So unless he gets physical I'm just going to stand my ground and wait.
Anyway, walking might sound like the right thing to do, but the problem is that most dumb punks will harass you and keep harrasing you until they get a fight. If you don't fight back they'll just beat you. So stand your ground, and be ready for it when it comes because you can't always avoid it.
Yep, been in that situation many times, walked away without a punch thrown and some cases when we've been brought to fistacuffs.
Every time this topic comes up, I think back to the time when my older brother came to pick up my friend and me from a summer program at school. We were about halfway home when a bunch of stupid boys started taunting him and making fun of him. The three of us continued walking while ignoring them, and finally the boys attacked my brother. That's when my brother started fighting back, and I was crying my eyes out. I was so angry.
But I never forgot how brave and mature my brother was. Walking away is the best thing to do, but when the other person wants to be a jerk and start throwing punches, what else can you do?
One of my professors had a student who was a kickboxer. This student was at a tournament and got to meet Chuck Norris, and he said that Mr. Norris is probably one of the nicest guys he's ever met. He asked him how many fights he has one and Mr. Norris said, "I've been in hundreds of competitions and matches, but I've never been in a fight. If it looks like there's going to be a fight, I walk away."
NEVER throw the first punch/hit/kick/slap/pinch/bite/lick.
After that, you're good to go.
@Ancient_Scribe@xanga - At that point, I don't think either your friend or Chuck Norris has a choice. If you wail the tar out of someone in a street fight and charges get filed and the police discover that you fight for a living or have any sort of advanced training, you're in deep doo doo.
as a general rule, I don't think i would smack someone for something they said... i would leave before smacking someone. i don't wanna get sued.
I'm sorry, but I finally have to say ask this... am I the only one who finds it annoying how "stephyju2517" goes to all of these posts and writes random 1-3 word comments that are not responses even remotely related to the topic?
And I will almost walk away from someone talking smack. It's stupid to get riled up over words and it just shows immaturity if one resorts to physical measures to "get revenge." The most I will do is verbally defend myself, but it's usually sufficient to ignore them and walk away (which in reality usually works better when because show them that they are not getting to you). I would fight back if the person gets physical though.
I could never EVER hit another person. Unless they were hurting my family.
