  • Apple Responds To Microsoft's 'Laptop Hunter' Ads

The past few months, Microsoft has been attacking Apple with their "Laptop Hunter" commercials.  Here's one of them in case you've been living under a rock and haven't seen one.

Yesterday Apple released a response to all the Microsoft commercials with 3 of their own.  Here's the main one:

I'm all for people having choices when it comes to their computing needs, but doesn't it seem like these people in the commercails really want the Mac but then realize they're in a Microsoft commercial?

Are these back and forth battles getting boring, or do you like the competition between the two companies?

I actually like Mac better, even though I'm a PC user, mainly because of the virus-freeness. :D

I"m on a PC Vista laptob now and its... nice.....vista is bad but the laptop is nice. I need a MAC for school so I wanna get the MackBookPro =D I like them better then PC.

@tvols11@xanga - Same here! I bought a PC, my friend bought a Mac. Hers crashed shortly after she got to school, and then once more after that. The only problem I've ever had was the need to upgrade to a new battery pack, when I accidentally threw it across a room and it stopped holding its charge for 6-8 hours. PC ftw.

My PC's never crashed, yet the Macs I use in computer labs at school crash every other time I use them.

In elementary school I used Apple computers back when I couldn't tell the difference. My brother and I were raised on Commodore 64 (which goes waaaaaay back but most of you probably don't know about it). From Win98 my family stuck to PCs all the way through XP, but when Vista came out and I was ready to buy a new computer, I decided to turn to the dark side and get a Mac.

I absolutely love my Mac, because OSX was so easy to learn and just about anything I want to do is so much simpler compared to Windows. Of course, OSX isn't perfect and not everything is compatible with Macs, so that's why I took advantage of the Boot Camp feature to install Windows XP. When I return to the U.S. I probably won't be using my desktop PC as much, except to run BitTorrent and stuff.  Each person has their own preferences when it comes to computers so there will always be a rivalry. Personally, I'd prefer that the Mac community stays small so that it doesn't become a larger target for viruses.

Man just reading all these posts just reminds me of the Megadeth and Metallica argument.

    IT Will Never End haha

I love it when people make false comparisons... You can't compare a 5 year old PC with a new Mac... Its all about hardware people, and now both are identical. You CAN compare OSs though. You CAN compare design forms.

I say quit having advertising wars, work on your product more and let them speak for themselves.

I love it. Great commercials. I've owned PC's all my life, up until a year ago. This mac is astounding and works perfectly for me.  I work in the graphic design industry so a Mac is a must. And as a gamer, I love the clarity of the games.

Well friend is in school, she needed lap top and school said it was in her finances she bought a Mac Book Pro, she was so frustrated with it the software sucked and never worked without opening and closing several times, the mac store was no help.
turns out the Toshiba I am on right now is same or better specs than the Mac book Pro, and it was only 529 bucks over her mac being 1995.00.
she took mac back and bought 2 toshibas like mine and a external hard drive and still has cash for good printer/scanner and we even loaded the hacked Mac os on one for a dual boot. But her school graphics program works so much better on the toshiba the mac just sucked for two grand!

    @Pcgecko85@xanga -
    wow
    6Gb
no wonder it wont hang = =+
your evidence is NOT persuasive ..
    i use 2gb ram
and opened photoshop cs4 corel paint X safari firefox msn at the same time   once
it didnt hang and still had about 500mb spare
    since its a mac.

there are bugs in os x
    but its faster
    in my experience.

  • laureotheoreo@xanga

i have never used a mac but always wanted to. please someone give me enough money to BUY a mac and i will get one but as for now i guess i'm sticking with a pc. student times = fun times. plus all the computers at uni are pcs so i guess using microsoft based programmes at home as well is simple too.

  • jenn71490@xanga

hahahahaha love the mac response. that's exactly why i got rid of my shitty constantly crashing and needing fixing PC and bought a mac. i now have two of them and not once have i had a single problem.

  • Magniloquentia@xanga

Apple commericals amount to, "You're a stuffy old man! You don't understand the people! Look how young and hip Apple is!"

...Nevermind that I'm charging you 20-40% more for lower rated hardware, and an inferior and incompatible OS.

But it looks cool! OOOOOOooooooo! Shiny!

  • xiaosnowtenshi@xanga

The rivalry amuses me, though I usually find Mac commercials to be a little more entertaining.

  • Purrty_Pink@xanga

lol at both commercials, I don't do anything except go on facebook, twitter, aim, and xanga...with the occasional research papers and school work. I don't think I need to spend over 1000 dollars on a laptop just for that that's why I have a pc. I'm not rich, I have free virus protection from my school so I think I'm ok. Mac's are prettier and light weight, but that's the only thing that appeals to me.

  • KasumiCelesta@xanga

Now that I can actually watch the videos (I couldn't watch them on my school campus), I'd like to mention that I got my Mac for under $1000. It was during the promotion when they were making room for the new models and offering a rebate for the iPod Touch and Nanos. In the end I got a 13" MacBook (personally 17" is too big for me) and an iPod Touch for $700 after rebate.

The key is not going to the Apple Store, and buying on eBay or during a big Apple promotion. Of course, if you HAVE to have the latest model, then don't bother. No, you're not cool enough for a Mac, Lauren. Lol.

The Mac response was pretty funny.

As a Final-Cut and Aperture user, I think I only have one choice. I've worked on PCs before, I never have liked Winblows one bit. I also think that Bill Gates is a greedy, arrogant prick and therefore would not spend one dollar to support his sorry ass.

As far as my Macs are concerned? One crash, and that's when I tried running Leopard on an old iBook G4. Reverted to Tiger, crash problem fixed. I've owned two other Macs, not a bit of trouble.
  • mathematicalbagpiper@xanga

It's also worth noting: Apple's customer satisfaction rate is 85%, higher than any other computer company out there right now.

  • anonymous

I guess since I haven't seen much commercials about each company going against each other, I still find them entertaining.

@Sugarling@xanga - @kacyy@xanga - To right click, you have to hold down ctrl and left click OR go into the control panels and set the right button on the mouse to be like the PC's right click.

  • the_imperfect@xanga

I used to be a PC, and now I am a Mac. I love my Mac; it is a much higher quality product than my old PC. I love the design, the controls.

  • the_imperfect@xanga

And I think Apple has the most amazing marketing team lol. Their Mac vs. PC commercials are so hilarious.

  • thathindukid@xanga

mac's have issues just as much as pc's do, the only difference comes from viruses - nobody uses macs [in relation to pc] so hackers who make viruses don't waste their time with macs..

and even regarding viruses i would actually have to try to get a virus on my computer..even with free software there's plenty of options for protecting yourself
  • DanzInRealLife@xanga

PC ftw! And I heart Vista.. No problems for me!!

  • withlove_c@xanga

i like watching the Mac ads.

  • Dargon@xanga

I own a Mac and a PC and a Linux machine and all three have their pros and cons.

The battle between Microsoft and Apple, however, is starting to annoy me.
