Apple Responds To Microsoft's 'Laptop Hunter' Ads
The past few months, Microsoft has been attacking Apple with their "Laptop Hunter" commercials. Here's one of them in case you've been living under a rock and haven't seen one.
Yesterday Apple released a response to all the Microsoft commercials with 3 of their own. Here's the main one:
I'm all for people having choices when it comes to their computing needs, but doesn't it seem like these people in the commercails really want the Mac but then realize they're in a Microsoft commercial?
Are these back and forth battles getting boring, or do you like the competition between the two companies?

I have used both a PC laptop a think pad with a wonderful little red g spot to use as a mouse. I now am using a Mac. I really don't like the mac. It is okay but I am more comfortable with a PC. Yes they get viruses, and crash, but I think they are more user friendly. It may be because I'm not used to Mac's but as of right now, if someone where to give me a free computer I would go with another think pad. The commercials are boring and funny all at the same time.
Awesome response from Mac!
I love the commercials.. they are hilarious :D
I dont mind the competitiveness of the 2 companies... its kinda funny.
What most people don't realize is that Macs crash just as often as Windows. Also, Vista doesn't get as many viruses as XP. IF Macs gain more marketshare they will have to worry about viruses. But advertising is advertising
i like them, they highlight the pros and cons for me in funny commercial form
I think both companies make good points...and it really depends what you want out of a computer.
There are things I like about both computers. I've use PC and get frustrated when I use a Mac even though I've been using Mac since elementry school.
PC has a wide range of computers that span several more budgets and user prefrences. The girl in the first video demostrates that. She got what she wanted for under $1000...and so did I infact!
As facny, asthectic, and uber cool as I think Macs are I still, after trying several times, can't use one and never see them running for a price I'm willing fork out for.
I love my PC. I'm a big computer gamer and I worry about compatibility issues with a MAC and my games. Also, if they still have the one click mouse that bothers the hell out of me. xD
@Sugarling@xanga - you can right click on macs if that's what you're talking about. though it's pretty difficult to figure out how.
god ya have gots ta love that lol
I am a PC person. (:
i think its funny...but its not going to swing me one way or another. as long as i get what i want, i dont care who i buy it from.
have both a pc & mac now. Been using the mac for 2 months. I really only got it because of the weight (air). Not much difference yet, just a change in controls. :]
I game, therefore I PC.
Mac is a better quality product. I'd get one just for their magnetic connection power cord that doesn't destroy your laptop when people trip over it constantly.
This MacBook Pro I'm currently on runs WoW much better than the custom built gaming PC with tri-monitor display upstairs in the workroom. Even with one screen, it still falls short of the Mac.
@Pcgecko85@xanga - Windows and Vista are operating systems. A Mac is a computer which runs an OS (and can dual boot with Windows if you want). If you want to compare Windows with something from Apple, compare it with an OS (like Leopard), not a processing unit.
@methodElevated@xanga - alright miss picky. OS X crashes just as often as Vista. In fact I'm running Vista 64bit with 6gb of ram and it has never crashed. Your custom built computer probably has a shitty video card or is low on RAM. Which is odd because WoW's graphics are kind of dated and don't require much horsepower.
@Pcgecko85@xanga - It's not pickiness; it's correcting a common misconception and preventing it from spreading.
But yes, it's a (now) outdated video card that could probably benefit from being replaced.
WoW has been updating their graphics, though. The casting animations, in particular, are a lot different and more complex now.
Ha ha... I like their (Apples) commericals. But Im not a mac.
I personally don't like the mac commercials because they're unrealistic to actual everyday computing needs for everyday people. And the one shown here saying "Macs don't crash or get viruses" is just way off in left field because all in all they are still PC's just with a different OS. The Mac OS still crashes and are usually more destructive when they do. As for viruses they are just as capable as contracting them as well.
@Lost_in_thought_43@xanga - Thank goodness for Time Machine. :)
I was a PC. For many, many years. I jumped ship somewhere in the XP era. I left my PC behind and became a Mac mainly because my husband's family was, and they liked to give us stuff for free. But the more I use Mac in all its forms (I've now owned an iMac, a Mac Mini, and currently have a Macbook Pro), the more I love it. I occasionally sit down at my parents' computer (Vista) and just get frustrated with it. I watch my good friend (the computer tech at a school) deal with all the problems that the PC using teachers have when she never has to mess with the Mac teachers' computers. I am not a gamer, but my husband is and says he hated playing games on his PC, but loves them on the Mac.
And, yes, I love the Mac commercials and the rivalry between the two companies.
@methodElevated@xanga - Yes Time Machine is excellent I'm not going to downplay that, it works much better than the Windows system restore and is more user friendly but the reason any OS will crash is because of the user not being careful with what they are downloading for programs or keeping their computer in good order. Routine maintenance is a must with anything yet most people either don't know how to or rely on other means to do so which can cause problems elsewhere.
My whole point is I'm getting a little tired of all the talk about Apple. I wouldn't mind if they didn't blatantly lie about how "good" OSX is. Just give credit where it's due and inform customers about what they are really buying.
Mac has a commercial in which PC goes to the future. If PC is time-traveling, then I think it's way ahead of Mac :^)
My best friend and I both go laptops for our graduation in May of 2007...she's had to send her Mac off for countless repairs while my PC has been a perfect gentleman.
But I do believe competition between companies can only help the consumers.
I am.. a DESKTOP PERSON =)
i just don't like PC because the parts are from like a bazillion different places (parts made in America, assembled in china//usually), so if your PC gets messed up and you don't know if it was a software glitch or the hardware itself who do you send it to? who do you bring up the problem too? it's just going to bring up extra problems that are unnecessary.
