I spoke to John, Xanga CEO, a couple of hours ago and he looked very sharp. Actually, I stared at him for a few second because I'd never seen him in a suit, let alone a button down shirt. He was heading out to a formal event and looked great except his tie wasn't the windsor knot, a sign of power and manliness. You know the one that looks like this:
His looked more like this (actual picture):

A tie is very important when it comes to events and can make or break your appearance. Of course, he wasn't going to head out until he got the windsor knot, which he eventually did and headed out as I typed this.
So I have to ask, do you know how to tie a tie? And how important is the look of the tie when going to any formal event?

I dont know how to tie a tie.
i know how to tie a tie but i think he was in a rush
I used to know how. I watched my dad do it all the time when I was little, and I tried it myself.
Don't know if I'd remember how to do it now...
GIVE ME HIS WHOLE FACE. & i'll give you my answer :P
I used to only tie my tie the way John does, but eventually I sat myself in front of a how to video on doing the windsor knot. I feel quite proud that I know how to do it now
double windsor
I only know the half-Windsor... I tried teaching myself a Windsor from the computer... but that just didn't work out.
i know how to tie a tie but i dont what knot is it though :P
the only time i've ever had to even wear a tie was for jazz band in high school and i got my dad to "pre-tie" it for me enough that i could slip it over my neck and tighten it later on before the gig.
That's why I could never be a guy, that seems kind of hard to do every day. He still looks nice though.
I actually dont :$
I semi-do but.. yeahhhhhh I need help.
I know how to tie a windsor! I feel like a man already >=]
skinny ties seem to be the fad these past few seasons.
for a geek, john seems to cut quite the figure.
you should learn something from your boss.
i know how to tie a tie but my bf never ties one.
Who cares? As long as the tie doesn't look like a hangman's noose and John doesn't resemble a cow tied to a rope.
Oh, I can do the Windsor blindfolded.
@XndraXstz@xanga - LOL
I can do the knot. I tie the pilots' neckties all the time in my work as a stewardess. Those men are hopeless.
I always tie a Windsor where ever I am going, be it the airport, a funeral or and interview.... power has no substitute.
I'm a model, and I have to learn how to do the Windsor, so yeah.
You need a tie that compliments the wearer and his suit. The width of the tie is important too. A skinny man doesn't need a fat, loud tie hanging on his chest like an anaconda.
Go for a neutral color like the basic black, navy blue and dark gray if you want to play it safe. If you want to draw some attention, go for the stripes and brighter colors like yellow, red and royal blue.
@icecrepas@xanga - who said John was a geek? haha
i love john (: he can do whatever the hell he wants with his tie, for all i care!
Sure, I can tie and tie, infact I have been working the on the lost art of the bow tie. They are attempting a fasion come back thanks to artist such as Mr. Bentley and Black Eyed Peas.
It seems as though the cultural/ fasion trend for executive men is that the tie has become less of a part of the atire. Personally, I do not have to wear a suit daily nor weekly. But maybe once a month I will don one of my few suits.
It sort of shakes things up...
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - how about YOU give ME some face.
Yeah, Even if I forget to do my tie like the top photo, Ill fix and fake it in the car before I get out... its easy to take your middle, pointer and thumb finger and bend it up and around.
Dunno where I learned that this was the way to do it though... odd.
@erahslover@xanga - how about you suck my deek. weirdo. ;o
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - ahahaha, i love a girl who can take random/unprovoked verbal abuse and dish it back out without getting all psycho and offended.
Sad to say, it is important.
Windsor Knot, done correctly in some circles, means you know how to dress AND you have some cash to spend.
(which reminds me......ahem, John...don't you owe me a 20?)
I have to wear a tie to work every day except on Fridays. I wear it in a Windsor knot. Sometimes I feel like my tie is strangling my will to live.
