it is ironic because when I tell the truth, some people are shocked and don't believe me & respond with, "don't lie! denial! come on, tell the truth!!" when I am telling the truth
and when I lie, they seem to believe me
so if they prefer to believe in that, then it is out of my control

Yes, I have lied. I didn't lie to my partner and he was a little shocked, but he loves me anyway.
I don't think you should lie, but when I was young, we didn't have the same worries that you have today and unfortunately, we were a lot more.... um...promiscuous I guess.
