The Argument: Can Asian guys (East Asian) ever get with a white girl?
One of my college friends, Ken, saw a Chinese girl with a white guy walk into the restaurant and immediately said, "You know an Asian guy could never get with a white girl, but you see white guys with Asian girls all the time".
Without hesitation, everyone jumped on his case. They were busy trying to prove him wrong by saying it was possible, but we're just not around enough people to really see it.
While they were arguing amongst each other, I couldn't remember a time when I did see an Asian guy with a white girl. I've seen tons of Asian girls with white guys in college but never the other way around.
While I didn't agree with my friends' statement, that we weren't exposed to different people to really see it, a part of me didn't think it was possible.
I don't know why I felt that way. Maybe it was because I was so use to seeing Asian girls with white guys, but I never really thought much about the other side of it.
Or maybe my friends were right, we just weren't exposed to enough cultural diversity to see certain interracial couples?
The argument didn't reach a conclusion and we gave up after a few minutes of discussion once the food was placed in front of us, but I still can't help think about what Ken said.
He might have been onto something, who knows.
Do you think it's harder for an Asian guy to date/hookup with a white girl? Why or why not?

Though, one of my friends is white & is dating a Vietnamese guy... hmmm... interesting.
Does Hispanic/looks white count as white? Because if that's the case, then I've seen that.
I'm white and my boyfriend's asian. But I guess that is rare anywhere.
I read that there is now this massive gender difference in China -- 32 million more young men than young women. Now this is a stretch and everything because I doubt too many of those girls are going to somehow move to Europe or America and get with a white guy, but gosh. 32 million single Chinese men... at least!
It's sad. And kind of irrelevent to this post... But I felt like saying it.
The way I see it, it seems like anyone with an asian girl is "the man." If a white guy brings home and asian girl, he's "the man." If a black dude brings home an asian girl, he's "the man." Hell, if an asian man brings home an asian girl, he's "the man." Yes, I do think that it harder for asian guys to get white women, but how do you expect white women to date them, when people of their own race won't even date them? I hate to sound like the, "oh, I have asian friends and this is what they tell me" guy, but it's the truth. Every asian women I've every met has told me that they simply hate dating men. You figure out why, and you've solved your problem.

Of course they can. Not if they have that mindset though, confidence is sexy, and if someone has none to start with, no matter what their race is, it's doomed to fail.
Oh yeah, Bruce Lee's wife was white. I know a ton of white girls who want asian guys, but the asian guy tends to be drawn on paper if ya know what I mean.
all depends on the circle of friends & the scene u hang out in... in some cities it's a little more racially divided so it's not as easy, in others it's a lot easier to assimilate w/different races & cultures... asian chicks dating white dudes is probably more common but i know several asian dudes who've dated or have married white chicks, including my brother & myself, so it's definitely possible.
Yeah I have seen the opposite although it is very rare.
I think it's just a cultural difference. The same things that attract white guys to Asian girls turn off white girls about Asian guys.
That being said...I'm of Irish (the whitest of the white) descent and currently in a 4 year relationship with a Filipino guy. So there you go.

I think its possible for any race to get with another, some mixes just arent seen as much as others. Me personally I like asian men.....ok so I like all men =).

There's white girls at my school that go out with Asian guys... I see it all the time.
I've seen them around. You just have to expand your social circle and cross over into a different zip code.
Some of my best friends (east asian men) in high school used to have this same argument. I (European descent) dated two Koreans in undergrad. Like every relationship, it was difficult, but I agree with @lovechartreuse@xanga - color isn't as great a factor among highly educated circles.
from what i've been told. most white girls arent interested in asian guys because their english accent sounds funny, not tall, and not handsome looking. i've chased a few white chicks back in college but definitely they were not into asian guys. they just want to be friends. so i dont even bother anymore.
I think it's harder due to Asian male stereotypes, but it certainly isn't impossible. I have a Taiwanese friend who has only dated white girls - he's had three really hot and really smart white girlfriends (and two of them have been taller than him too... he likes smashing stereotypes I guess). If I were bi I would be jealous.
Anyone can be with anyone. People just need to get past the racial barriers...
