  • The Silent Treatment: Guys Love It!

The Silent Treatment: A technique used by girlfriends to show they're displeased with their SO.

Females tend to do this to annoy their boyfriends when they are angry in hopes that the boyfriend will cave and shower them with love.

My take on this: Stupid technique. I'm sure the boyfriend will enjoy the silence. I saw the technique in play the other night, it's pretty funny how the guys aren't too concerned that their girlfriends aren't nagging at them or constantly asking hard to answer questions like "do you even know why I'm mad?!"

Do guys like it when girls give them the silent treatment? Anyone have any silent treatment stories to share?

Psh, the silent treatment is so bitchy. I'd never give anyone the silent treatment, I'd just confront them if there was a problem.

when i'm not saying anything, my boyfriend just keeps talking to me, trying to get me to say what's bothering me.
thing is, if i start talking, i'll end up with tears running from my eyes.
either that or i'm just pissed & don't wanna say anything.
so he just annoys me the whole time.

LMAO I always give the silent treatment. Mine usually lasts three days.

HAHAHAA It annoyed the fuck out of my ex when I gave him the silent treatment.  It lost its effect after the 6-7th year though haha.  I'm sure guys hate the silent treatment as much as the girls but they just dont show it.  WTF likes to be ignored?  Nobody.

I wish more people would use the silent treatment. The world would be a more quiet place.

I love it when girls use the silent treatment.

When they talk I don't listen so it's like this really annoying high pitched buzzing sound.

I don't like the silent treatment. I believe in communication.

I can't remember any times I've been subjected to the silent treatment, so I guess I'll leave this to the experts.

Usually when I'm in a bad mood, I don't say anything. My boyfriend usually pesters me until I say something. I think it's kind of cute when he pouts at me, so I do it to see the cute faces he makes. Haha.

i use the silent treatment alot, but it's not to be a bitch nor to manipulate him into paying me attention or anything like that. i just don't like to fight about petty things, and i don't always want to talk about every detail of what i'm feeling. geez, what's wrong with that? that shit would drive anyone crazy. i wish more people talked less to tell you the truth. hah.

finally, peace and quiet. i can finally enjoy my time around her silently.

I think I'm pretty incapable of the silent treatment... which sucks.  It would probably do me good if I knew when to just be quiet sometimes when I'm upset.  I try NOT to be naggy, but I suck at it.  Probably one of the reasons why my last boyfriend is now my ex-boyfriend...    I don't, however, talk all the time...  there are plenty of times when I just don't feel the urge to talk about anything... but not usually if something is bothering me.  If something's bothering me, I am no good at being silent...

  • yamman1989@xanga

I guess it depends on the kinda guy it is. I cant take the silent treatment, it leaves me wondering...and wondering. A less sensitive guy could probably appreciate the silence better, lol

  • C_UNIT42@xanga

i hate the silent treatment.  it pisses me off is when you won't acknowledge me.  if you're mad i get it, i'll apologize, but if i ask you a question be an adult and answer me.  especially if its important like i'm trying to plan something and need to know your schedule, or something like that.  i'd really prefer that if i'm going to get the silent treatment it be done while i'm watching a football game or something.

My ex would know not to mess with me when I gave him the silent treatment, but he would get SO annoyed with it. He would do everything to make it up to me and would stop only when I agreed to whatever he wanted to do to make me happy. Ugh... makes me miss him even more now...

heh ever heard the term...."silence is golden"

  • thewindycity@xanga

it's funny how girls enjoy being angry.
you can do all you can to appease her, but in the end the girlfriend simply just wants to stay angry.
(maybe it gives them a sense of entitlement or control)

i just think it's because girls are psycho

  • angel_vow@xanga

Sure. A silent treatment is a lot better than being nag to death.

it is more of a cool down period for me but I don't wait around for him to call. I use the silent treatment time to go shopping. I don't give in and call him either. he'll eventually miss me and call

  • TheAsianCleric@xanga

Silent treatment is difficult to notice. My girlfriend doesn't tell me when she's mad at me even though I might ask. She'll just stay silent and I usually know why. But whenever she's mad at me, she comes back apoligizing a week later because she knows that I haven't done anything wrong. If she gets mad at it, it's usually because I might've been doing or asking her something that's perfectly fine in nature and she'd just get angry for a few days. Last time it was over the fact that I wanted her to take some medicine to help her get over her cold faster despite knowing how she's a pill-phobe. She said a few days later that she happens to like the fact that I ask her because it shows that I actually care.

  • y_tc@xanga

I hated it when she gives me the silent treatment, just how the hell am I supposed to know why she's mad anyway? If she got a problem, she needs to voice it out.
