.
I just awoke from lying next to one of my good buddies (no really, we're just good friends) on a futon in Boston and we were discussing how poorly we'd slept.
We were trying to figure out why and drifted off to sleep discussion in general when my buddy added, seemingly out of nowhere, "The worst is when you have to poop right before you go to bed. I heard that it gives you nightmares."
The timing couldn't have been more perfect. Just this past Wednesday night (Thursday morning technically) I'd had a bit of a nightmare.
I'm not much of a dreamer to begin with...at least not when I sleep and yet I had a very vivid nightmare the morning in question and, when I thought back to it, I had indeed needed to use number 2 before passing out with my light on and my right hand in a book.
I was reminded of this because the only thing that woke me from my nightmare was, in fact, that initial need to poop.
One of the strangest and yet seemingly more sensible aspects of this dream was that, as the nightmare began I ventured to the downstairs of a house to drop a BM, only to find the bathroom occupied. I returned upstairs to my nightmare (as if not being able to poop weren't enough of a nightmare to begin with) where I soon after awoke, as I was crying in my dream. Upon waking I was neither teary-eyed nor sporting soiled boxers. Two points.
Strangely, just a few days prior I had an odd dream (when are dreams not odd?) that involved me, at one point, using a hotel restroom belonging to
Lou Ferrigno. Somehow I was able to pee and hold the door closed despite the best efforts of the enraged former
Hulk portrayer. When I retold the dream to a friend she was amazed that when I awoke I had not pissed myself in my sleep. Some of us are just made of finer stuff.
Have you ever had a nightmare you think was poop-induced? Ever use a bathroom in a dream only to find you'd done the same in real life?

how can someone sleep like that?
if i had a toilet, like that, i'd be on it all the time READING BOOKS. looks pretty sweet.
i need to have my intestines cleared before bedtime. i prefer my nightmares from blogs that make me feel WEIRD.
Wow, I would never forget to poo before bed...then again I rarely have to poo before bed. I have a gloriously regular mid-day poo. Yeah, I'm not afraid to talk about poo.
The idea is strange...but convincing.
Well I've had a dream that I was pooing and I in fact shat my pants. This has happened with #1 as well.
Hahaha, my boyfriend totally believes this.
I almost never have nightmares, but I've had dreams about going to the bathroom (I've never woken up having done so). So perhaps people have to be prone to having nightmares in the first place?
yeah everytime i need to pee i have peeing dreams...Ive only woken up to wet sheets once. and this was a very long time ago.
Now when I have then I just wake up annoyed, go pee and go back to sleep.
dude i didn't believe it at first, but you really do love shit
When I was little, the whole "going to the bathroom in your dream, only to wake and find out you did it in real life" was a problem. However, I outgrew that by elementary school.
I don't know that poo causes bad dreams. I've never been able to fall asleep if I need to use the bathroom.
no i've never had those before, but i've had plenty of pee-induced dreams/nightmares.
for me it doesnt function during sleep. I've never needed to go to the bathroom during the night in my life
@TheBigShowAtUD@xanga - LOL I almost like you more than wherethefishlives. ALMOST.
@s_a_r_a_h_1@xanga - you're halfway to the mini i promised you.
LOL YEH. I had this weird dream where I had to pee really bad, and then all of a sudden I'm in the bathroom peeing. I woke up to find that I was doing it in real life, too. Hahh, I was like 8 or 9 when the happened.
i don't hold anything in before i go to bed. i've had my share of accidents.
@spanz@xanga - omg. I did the same thing only I was pooing. I was like 7 and I started screaming when I woke up 'cause I got so freaked out.
lmao poop ftw!
That is why we all need to go to the bathroom before bed.
@TheBigShowAtUD@xanga - Agreed. If I was reading and had to move my bowels, I would take that book with me. I'm pretty sure my books haven't been too traumatized by the experience.
@goldenj2384 - if there is one thing about me, it is a sometimes frightening honesty. sometimes gets me in trouble.
@TheBigShowAtUD@xanga - trust me, i do an awful lot of reading on the john. i probably wrote this entry on the toilet. i was just so tired sleep beat out BM. see what i wrote to goldenj? this might be a prime example.
fer one... i try not to sleep with male buddies on futons... fer two umm if ya ever should awaken ..he is smilin and ya feel sorta ruptured down there... im pretty sure ya can blame it on the poo k?
@abcxunt@xanga - err real happy to umm read that.... makes things sorta right in the world...
I remembered when i was young, i wanted to pee but i fell asleep. Then i dreamt that i was in this restaurant and i called my mom to take me to the restroom. Upon landing my butt on the toiletbowl(in the dream!) I peed and i felt really relieved. Then woke up knowing that i peed in bed LOL!
That's probably actually true. People tend to have nightmares when something in their body is telling them to wake up. Whether it be the need to poo/pee, hunger, over-heating, etc.
Hm, I've never had to poo right before bed.
Weird. I never thought about that.. I mean, I do my business before bed and get some wicked nightmares anyway. my problem is how come I have to pee first thing in the morning.. but my #2 ( thats what we call it at my house) waits until later, normally a half an hour to make its appearance. Is my poo just a later sleeper or something?
