The Types Of Single Women
This is what I’ve concluded about single women, as I ineptly and painfully try to re-enter the world of dating:
WOMEN:
Early 20's- Mid 20's - Just want to have fun, nothing serious. They're serial daters, interested in whatever and whoever is "cool, happening, or adventure".
Mid-Late 20's- On the prowl for husband-material and "real" relationships. They're interested in stable men who come with respectable titles and potential/current high growth income and good genes for beautiful kids (This last is negotiable, commensurate with the guy's salary, i.e. security). Growing panic as they see many of their friends get married.
30's and Beyond- Divorced/separated. Single mom looking for a father figure for her kids, unattractive and sometimes needy/desperate. Many are jaded and cynical, possibly bitter. They're also panicking as they see their youthful bloom fade, try to overcompensate. Don't forget overly protective, indulgent aunts and most likely have cats or dogs, maybe even both.
Obviously these are generalizations. There are exceptions I'm sure. And if you're a single female in any of those age groups you're one of the exceptions. Right?
Right.
Is this an accurate description of most women? Do you know anyone that falls under any of these categories?

Hm, none of these describe me. I'm 18.
But then again, I'm not single :3
Not really. There are too many subcultures anymore for broad generalizations like this to work.
I'm 21 but I think I fit better in the second category - not that I feel in a rush to get married or into a long term relationship, but I'd like to have someone I just feel comfortable with.
uhh...i mean kinda....
but times are changing now where women even though they are single does not mean that they are looking to be in a relationship.....has it ever occurred to you that maybe they want to be single??
It is true that a majority of young women enjoy going out and not having anything serious cause most young women now are very involved with their careers and are holding higher and more powerful positions then we ever have. so....those are the exceptions. But i think the bitter divorced older women is alittle too stereotypical......they're just cautious.
I'm the mid-twenties girl (age 24); your description fits me perfectly. Monogamy is so hot.
What about the women who are in their 40s and have never been married?
Excellent! I think you did a wonderful job of really teasing out the nuances of single women of various ages!
I'm a cougar (be afraid, be very afraid... ;).
What about those that are still single after 30? Late bloomers? Die hard singles?
I'm 19 and taken. But I know single women who do not fit your descriptions.
lo nice nice.
@TheLoveMuse@xanga - I feel the exact same as you, and also am 21.
Well, I mean, I have that someone - but I still consider myself to be single as I'm not married.
40+ and they enter cougar territory, which pretty much takes them back to their 20s except they are much older. Life comes full circle.
what about 17 years old girls?
are we not "women" enough? :O
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - In general to get the title of "woman" you have to be an adult, sorry?
Either way this kind of ignores several factors. So it fails.
I think a lot of the early-mid 20's are already looking for husband-material. If you only start looking at your late 20's the good ones could have been snatched up :p
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - no, you're not legal. nothing against you or anything. Come back in a year. :)
@thesmittenmitten@xanga - sad but true. but there are several people who dont want to settle down til later as well.
@Gerald_Washington@xanga - i'm pretty legal in Texas ;)
dude, where are the cougars?
@coolmonkey@xanga - so very true :D
@icecrepas@xanga - stalking supermarket aisles everywhere. you can recognize them by their insanely elaborate make-up/outfits totally inappropriate for the casual outing. also, they tend to lick their lips when 20-something guys lift boxes.
Well, I'm in my 30s and I'm not divorced, separated, a single mom, or a pet owner. So yeah, I'd say I'm an exception.
There are exceptions of course, but it seems from my point of view that yours hits the areas quite well!
Early 20's is what you said. May make a mistake, but usually smart enough to avoid serious pitfalls. Again, keyword being usually.
Mid 20's: Girls who have hit the rocks a few times and have their shit together. No longer indecisive and looking for the right guy now either by choice (99%) or by the supposed biological clock thing (1%)
30's: The "successful woman" (Great job, healthy body, fun lifestyle, never got laid due to putting herself too high on that pedestal), or that snobby bitch who went through guys like Kleenex in her 20's, but is now 30, single and only getting action from the vibrator.
Beyond: Women who were long unapproachable due to constratints. This is the divorced/seperated status of father finders.
Again, there are exceptions as a lot of women know and will gladly prove us wrong.
I'm 21 and like to get into serious relationships, I don't see the fun in serial dating and just going around. I fit better into the second category, although I wouldn't say I'm with someone because they have potential for high income, that's horrible! the genes yes I do agree :p
yeah...you really can't generalize this way. what if you met a single woman in her early 20's who's panicking as she's watching all her friends get engaged/married/have kids...
or what if you met a woman in her 40's who was perfectly content being a single mom?
life is twisted sometimes!
generalizing is not always so good.
nope not looking for a husband, not unattractive (i don't think?), definitely not desperate. not jaded. maybe a little cynical..but that just comes with experience. not bitter. still trusting and forgiving. not afraid of being alone. no pets of my own. have learned to let go of a lot of things/people- so no, not overly protective or overly indulgent either
I'm 20 and I don't want to get married until I'm 30, but while cool, happening, and adventure are great...I wouldn't go for him if he wasn't stable. Too many "cool" people are psychotic and messed up. I'm sick of them and have learned to identify and run.
