Family reunions.
I guess that depends on what type of woman you are intersted in. You should choose a place that "your type" can be found.

Just kidding! Any mutual friend's gatherings seem to be good places.
book stores ... coffee shops... street...clue here fer strippers, find a good dennys near the bar and offer to meet and buy her breakfast there after her shift ends...
Dance/cooking classes. You get automatic points for dancing/cooking even if you suck, and the girls always outnumber the guys.
Volunteering. I met one of my boyfriends this way (the end to that relationship is a whole other story...)
@Slimmacho@xanga - i think the women are more likely to know where they'd be at any given point in time. it's well known that men don't ask directions...

but really, like echois23 said, chicks can be found nearly anywhere. depends on what you're going for...you want a party animal, look at parties; you want an smart chick, look at book stores (although i get weird looks from guys when i camp in the scifi section :\ ), political activist? go to a rally lol

I know you said besides school but I honestly think that is the best place to meet someone.

I think if I were a guy, and I wanted to meet women, I'd go to a store that sold stuff I was interested in (like, video games, or whatever you're into). That way, when you do meet a women, you'll have something to talk about right away AND you'll have a common interest if you end up dating her.

As for me: strip clubs, alleyways behind bars, the drunk tank at the local police precinct, Bubba Sparxx or Ludacris concerts, you know, places where only women of good reputation hang out. I like to stay classy, yadadamean?

It's all about the house parties. Not as loud as clubs (usually), so you can actually talk. Girls' birthday parties are always good places to check out the hot friends or even the the birthday girl herself ;)
At the gym, any kind of classes that's co-ed, Church, weddings, any social event.
AA meetings.

On Mancouch! I think more women read it than men (at least more of them comment on it)!
I agree with everyone... and it really does depend on the type of girl you want to some extent. For instance, I might be dancing my little heart out in Hollywood on Saturday night but then I'll be at The Getty Museum on Sunday right after a luncheon at The Ivy. So you can't always judge someone by where they are in the moment :)
