Men have been wearing earrings for centuries.
Since ancient times (and still today), tribal men have worn traditional ear ornamentation, and old European princes would wear multiple pieces of fanciful lobe trinkets.
Over the ages, though, men have kinda shied away from the practice of wearing earrings.
Apart from body modders, athletes and musicians, it's relatively uncommon for men in general to wear earrings these days.
Now, they aren't exactly the most manly accessories for a guy, but they sure ain't the least either.
Like most things, it's all in how you rock them.
A lot of guys have been trying to "man up" diamond and gold earrings for years. But there are also a ton of different types of less feminine earrings out there for guys (like myself) to wear.
The other day, I saw a fairly manly looking guy on the train rocking the Michael Jordan loops on both ears, circa 1992. Not a hot look, dude, but do you.
Are earrings acceptable on men? Do some of the social stigmas of men with earrings still apply (left ear = straight, right ear = gay, both ears = bi-curious)?

Earrings are acceptable on everyone, or they are acceptable on no one.
No. They are not acceptable. It was cool in the 90s, now it's not. Guys... please, please, please don't pierce your ears. Or wear necklaces. Thank you.
first! and i have no problems with earrings.
Oh, unless they are necklaces with special meaning to you, and you keep it tucked under your shirt.
dammit, two snuck in before me!
If I like a guy I like him for who he is. I have seen some guys who look good with piercings and some who looks stupid with them. Like everything else in fashion you should do what suits you best.....
yummm...i mean yes...love earrings on guys (that stigma thing is like soooo 2002 ;)
Ears pierced on both sides does not mean you are bi-curious.
@abh816@xanga - i totally agree with you on the necklace thing girl...lose the necklaces boyssss! :)
hmm... only in one ear.
Every time I see a man wearing an earring I always think "God what a douche bag." Then again I've been in America for quite sometime, it might just be the American culture speaking.
Basically any man wearing any jewelry that is not necessary or relevant to life, is a turn off.
haha i wouldnt call both bicurious, just 2 earings lol, very nice tho. I actually had earings for a good while b4 i decided wtf i'm gunna guage them. I'm at a 00 and stopping now as well. Idk if that makes me a body modder tho lol.
Wow I didn't know this was still being so debated! I think it's fine.
I've got 4 myself. 2 in each ear and one in my left nostril.
I think anyone should wear what they like, but I do think some things take a certain person to work well.
I think that jewlery is a personal choice and therefore anyone can wear it, but personally I find boys with earrings unattractive.
earringz braceletes ringz neklaces lipstik tattooz you name it & eny reel man can doit
earrings are fine, but no loops and dangly shit.studs and solitaties, are, in my opinion quite acceptable.
besides, the only other acceptable "jewelry" on a man? swiss chronographs, cufflinks and rings - and only if you're married.
no necklaces, bracelets nor anklets.
The only guy that I've seen that seems to make earrings work is Usher.
i think earrings are acceptable on a guy but it's still up to him
he shouldnt give a damn what anyone else thinks also about which ear he's wearing it on tells his sexuality
really depends on the style of the earring and the style of the dude.
I like when men earrings look "rockadellic"
Nope. not acceptable. Men with earrings are douchebags.
I like guys with earrings.
I'm a fan of slightly-gauged ears. By that I mean no bigger than pencil eraser size. That way the gauges are still solid and not huge gaping holes in the ear lobes.
It does depend on what kind of earring it is. Stick with diamond studs! I think it's hot.
"Not a hot look, dude, but do you". Very funny, I love your sense of humor.
Hmm...I think studs are ok on guys, if that's what their into..maybe in one ear, but I don't know about the hoops. That is kind of a 90's thing.
