  • Unforgivable Female Offense #47: Women In Packs

I'm a closet feminist and I've learned a lot about women over the past year and a half from a serious relationship that ended recently.

So, I have a relatively open mind when it comes to women doing certain things, or behaving in certain ways, that drive guys mad.

But I just can't let some things slide.

Case in point: Yesterday, there was a group of about eight or nine British women in the same train car as me.

They were all loud and boisterous, yapping and cackling nonstop in various British accents about womanly things; like how horribly inept some girl they know is, and the guy their friend is kinda-sorta dating "is a really nice guy, but..."

Every guy is "nice," isn't he? I'm sure he wouldn't be so nice if he spent five minutes around you gals.

At first, I thought to myself, "Well, I'm glad they're all enjoying themselves in NYC."

But soon my thoughts turned to, "When is their fuckin' stop already? Oh great, it's mine. Please don't follow me into the next train, please."

More power to them for having a good time, but when women assemble together like Power Rangers, you're kinda forced to bust out the noise-canceling earphones.

I have to say, though, men also tend to mutate and gel into the mold when in groups.

A guy who's into fine wine and books when alone is just as liable as the next guy to only be able to process sports and breasts when with the boys.

Both ends of the gender spectrum need their guy/girl time. And when they get it, both are equally annoying.

Do you find loud groups of women annoying? How do they compare to loud groups of men?

I hate being around big groups of people, period. As you said, EVERYONE becomes shallow and trying to outdo the loudness of the rest.

Both. Both genders are equally annoying; especially on subways.

loud groups of people are annoying.

  • gypsybird@xanga

none of my girl friends act like that when in packs.... then again we're all sort of eccentric.

  • jennjinx@xanga

Group of guys + group of girls = fun.

Loud groups of people are annoying, but one day when I was with a group of my own friends, I stopped and had a revelation. We were as annoying as those packs of people I've always hated. How ironic isn't? Maybe not much since my friends don't act like retarded jackasses. We just get kind of loud and laugh a lot. Everybody does that when with friends, right?

Loud groups of women and loud groups of men are obnoxious in different ways.  Yayy, diversity.  Hahah.

Sometimes women in large groups can be annoying. Especially when they talk loud and it seems like they are broadcasting their whole conversation for everyone to hear.

rollin, my man, you make excellent points in your posts. much love

  • methodElevated@xanga

I can't stand being in or around large groups of women.  Talk about an estrogen overload, and they tend to talk about the stupidest shit that I couldn't care less about.

  • black_lie@xanga

maybe it's because i'm always an outsider in a group of girls, but part of the group in a group of guys.. but i find groups of girls super annoying. they always talk about superficial stuff in high annoying voices and they do that squealing thing.. ugh.

  • immaairheadxl@xanga

    Ah.

sorry, i follow into this category.

you can hear me before i come.

    with heels ;) hhaahaha.

    but no..it's not only that.

we make a statement..we jsut have fun..

but in the end..really..i don't give a fuck what others think of us..as long as we're having fun

  • organic_idiot@xanga

    I admit, I'm loud. I'm boisterous. But, honestly, I don't care. I'm not rude.
If I'm annoying you, fine... You can leave. If you can't leave,
however, I'll try to be behave. But if I'm out with the girls, having a
good time, I'm gonna milk it. I'm not there to impress anyone.

I don't talk about personal matters in a large group, though. That I find rude. I'm just being silly... It's my personality.

Yep, I'm one of those. Tough.

  • UnopenedSuitcases@xanga

haha i agree when me and my girls get together, we do get kind of loud. But guys do it also. Depending on certain situation. I think girls are worse though

  • jebsolomon

groups?  damn, it only takes two as far as i'm concerned.  so many of those cases where it's one guy or one girl talking a lot, and loudly, about the most idiotic crap and i wonder why the one other person takes it.  groups can get more obnoxious.  one of the worst of all time: about 20  a cappella kids on njtransit with me into the city.  not only was their conversation terrible, their vocal efforts were as well.  hell, i'm sure i probably talk a little too loud about stupid shit sometimes too though.  good googley moogley...

Sigh...I like my peace and quiet...

  • landlockedeyes@xanga

I find women in general annoying... whether they're in a group or not, it really doesn't matter.
But yes, if there's a group of females around, there's definitely a higher chance that I'm gonna get up and leave.

  • winniebree@xanga

Both groups could be very very annoying.

  • chipped_porcelain@xanga

i can't stand loud groups of women, it drives me absolutely MAD.

i don't mind loud groups of guys though, because i get along better with guys. they don't do that horribly annoying squealing crap either when they talk, which is a major plus.
  • Linteria@xanga

    @goldenj2384 - Thanks, J. Much appreciated. :D

And Jeb's right– sometimes it does only take two to make the thing go right. It also takes two to make it out of sight, coincidentally.

Hey, what's this squealing thing everybody keeps mentioning? I'm sure i've heard it, but i'm just not picturing it.

  • TheEccentricPerson@xanga

Both loud groups of men and women annoy me. There's a difference between having fun with friends and being outrageously loud. Seriously. don't they ever realize how much people they're irritating? Nothing could possibly be that funny...

  • SusieQ_IluvU@xanga

yep, both are definitely not fun, but i think loud groups of women are more annoying.

  • SeiGe_Jet@xanga

I don't quite think of it as being an offense as it's just, in a group setting, it's easier to discuss generally safe social topics (e.g. for guys, sports and breasts) where hopefully most other guys are into as well. It's a little difficult to discuss recent securities trading rule limitations and market effects OR distinctive germanic metaphors and aphorisms beyond philosophy and existentialism with the guys and have everyone be able to equally participate.

As for being loud and obnoxious... that's just the nature of groups. I try not to think of it as a book club taking place in a library... but more like a trade show or expo center. Lots of people = need for voice projection. Is it annoying/rude? sure as shit. Necessary? who knows.
