Yes, as my room-mate is an example by existing as such. I dont particularly hate apples, they have useful commandline stuff, but other than that, I really dont care for their "difference by conformity" design philosophy and whole ilife nonsense.

  • PsychedelicBreakfast@xanga

The typical Apple user? Yes. Apple is overrated, and overpriced.

  • AirForceVirgin@xanga

That video rocked so freaking much.

  • psycho_ash@xanga

I don't know about snobby hipsters, but I really think they're whole "I'm cool because I use a mac" thing is... pointless.

I think that, if anything is "unique" or whatever in the OS world, it would probably be Linux. I've never met anyone on Linux.

Apple users who sit in Starbucks are the assholes.  Apple products are overpriced and overrated like someone said above.

    Windows FTW.

  • kash@healthkicker

@psycho_ash@xanga - i use linux at work and a mac at home. linux is not bad at all, although a lot of programs aren't made for that OS

  • beforedawn@xanga

lol as an apple user... im basking in yer jealousies lol.... snickers... reeses... almond joys and guffaws...

  • helloimorange@xanga

it's hard to get used to a new system... that's why I hate facebook compared to myspace etc. but the more I get used to apple the more I like it.

my brother-in-law is obsessed with apple. he is a pot-head.  thus no matter how amazing he thinks apple is, it's only second in his book.

    Short answer: Yes

    Long Answer: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssss!!!!

  • aznspartan94@xanga

I really hate the touch-screen keyboard. It makes typing a pain since I like to use physical buttons, so I'd rather go with the Google Android if I could get either of them for free.

My biggest complaint is not with Apple users but with Apple itself.  It simply infuriates me that they charge such ridiculously high prices for a product which, while it may be thin and shiny, is not compatible with anything except other Apple products!  Prime example:  the iPod.  I refuse to buy an iPod because the whole iTunes, .m4p thing pisses me off.  Firstly, because iTunes is so ridiculously slow that it's simply not worth running, and also can't do simple things that the Windows Media Player can do like creating "Now Playing" lists (with iTunes, you have to save a playlist first, so you end up with all these useless playlists that you have to delete later or that clutter your space).  Besides that, anything you buy from the iTunes store comes in .m4p format-- which means I can't even play it with WMP so I do the things I want with it!  Besides which, have I mentioned iPods are way too expensive for their main advantage being that they're "pretty" and will work with Apple software?  Sure, some of them have a lot more space than most of the cheaper players, but who really wants to scroll through 80GB of music?  Not me.  So another pet peeve of iTunes is that anything I buy on it, I can't put on my Sansa music player either, so I have to waste a blank disk burning tracks to CD in order to change the format to .mp3, in order to even be able to listen to the dratted things while I'm working out!

    Fucking Apple.

  • MiladyMasked@xanga

Also, what the hell is up with the control commands?  Macs have a ctrl button, and they have c for copy, v for paste, etc... but for some reason they make you use the apple button instead of ctrl, even though the rest of the computing world knows these commands as ctrl+c, etc.  Why???  If they didn't have the key it might make a little sense, but as it stands it really seems like they're just trying to be douchebags.

I personally don't want an iPhone because I prefer simplicity. I fought the advent of camera phones for the longest time, because I felt it was an unnecessary feature. I don't need to go online or listen to music on my phone. I just need to make calls and texts.

And no, not all Apple users are snobby hipsters. I was given an iPod shuffle by my mother and I am definitely not a hipster. I'm probably not snobby either. But then again I don't use the shuffle much. I tend to shove it in my bag and forget about it until I need a flash drive. Haha.

I'm familiar with all three big OSes, and I still prefer Windows. Mac OS is better in some respects, but overall, Windows trumps it. Linux would beat out the both of them if it weren't so incompatible with everything else in the world...

  • T5421@xanga

If you don't want to do anything on a computer get an apple, Iphone is the same way,  can't be upgraded unlike the G1 or my blackberry

  • yayforhippies@xanga

i have a mac computer simply because they gave me the option of a cpu that was built into the monitor - space efficiency :)
my cellphone does not have a camera, i use my mp3 player as an alarm clock only (fine, okay, it's an ipod, but it was a gift!) and my camera uses film, not an sd card.

    i am definitely not hip.
but i won't deny that after using an apple computer for half a year, i am certainly not voluntarily going back to a pc.

  • jolee121910@xanga

are all [insert group of people] just [insert an adjective]? no. there's always an exception. i know college professors who use iphones and they aren't necessarily 'hipsters'

  • SeriouslyCheesed@xanga

Not gonna lie, Apple has great graphic designs for their advertising and products. However, that's all I like about them! Their UI for their operating systems are ANNOYING as HELL. I love Windows' so much more! They're also too monopolizing on their products, it's ridiculous. They're more space-efficient too but I just like PCs better.

But to answer the original question, I don't hate them. I admire them but I find them impractical.

I think people who swear by Apple are pretty dramatic, but their iPods are pretty neat (besides the fact that they're only compatible with certain file-types) and their Macs look nice, it's nothing too grand.

    Plus it's $$$$$$$!!!

  • jolee121910@xanga

i dont have an iPhone and i dont want one either... at least until they go into the gaming industry big time

  • Olvidarse@xanga

Yes. As a snobby Apple user myself, I can say so - and snobby hipsters love irony.

"(Ironically) admitting my faults makes me better than you all." - This is what a snobby hipster thinks as they admit their faults.

However, cooler hipsters dislike iPhones - but still love Apple. We look at iPhone users with disdain, but still swear by our Apple products. Wozniak > Jobs.

    :)

  • itstartedwithyou@xanga

I don't want an iphone, never will get one. I do admit it can come in handy, but I don't like that it's touch screen. I like having actual buttons to push.
Some people with Apple products are snobby, some don't act any differently. It depends on the person though.

  • soccerluver91790@xanga

Most of my friends have macs and a few have the iphone, but they aren't snobbish about it.

  • anti_monarch@xanga

I'm out of vitriol for your kind. Read my post about it. By the way, crappy Blackberrys and WM devices? You really believe that? I don't even know where to start. I wish I was on Apple's marketing team. You tools make it too easy. Read my blog.
