Video Games, Are They A Waste Of Time?
Video games.Play these things too much and you are taking away precious moments of your life that could have been with ones you love. Or perhaps you could be playing the most intense game and winning but there goes your life miserably down the drain.
I love video games but I don’t completely waste my time on them. Some of my favorites are Left4Dead, The Ship, and Dance Dance Revolution (I cant dance without the arrows).
Sometimes I go through phases where I can't stop playing a game, (hence the blisters on my feet from playing Dance Dance Revolution.) However, then I go through another phase where I won't play games for an extended period of time.
An advantage of my online games (Left4Dead and The Ship) is that in a way you are actually interacting with other people. The program involved with these online games is called Steam.
It comes with many online games so you can play well, online. You can also add new friends and make your own profile page. The people could be your best friend that live right down the street or someone you have never met that is on the other side of the world.
You can have very, very interesting conversations with the new people you meet, trust me on that one.
Video games also can help build fantastic eye and hand coordination which helps in everyday tasks such as playing a sport, or ducking before someone punches you straight in the face.
They are also a great way to take out your anger. For example, just sign on to the game Left4Dead and ferociously shoot every zombie in sight and voila! Angry no more grumpy pants.
Are video games a waste of time? Do you play the games online or on a gaming console?

I don't mind doing it together
or like
a coupel hours a day
but don't be doin' that shit around me - meaning leaving me alone on your bed for five horus in a row.
Yes, a complete waste of time. What happens when you get to the end of a game? You never play it again and you realize you wasted a good part of your life playing something totally useless.
It's cool to play video games; just don't let it consume your life. Then you might actually end up living with your parents until you're 31.
@immaairheadxl@xanga - Totally right?
L4D for the win :)
Depends on why people are playing them, if they're playing them simply to -waste- time, I think it's pointless, but if they actually get something out of it, I can't see why it's a problem. I know for myself I've gotten a lot of inspiration from them.
They're a waste of time for anyone who would rather be doing something else.
Video games are a HOBBY, duh. Some people enjoy them, some people don't. To me, watching TV is a waste of time, but to someone else it's not. To each his own.
P.S. Trying to make Opera's Green System in Star Ocean 2 was totally worth my cumulative 20+ hours once I finally made it :)
i was actually in an article for my local paper about video games. the author quoted me throughout the entire story. i love video games and don't think they're a waste of time. the video game industry is up despite bad economic times. you wanna know why? they're fun, good form of entertainment and you can interact with other people while you play. i love games from god of war, to the wii fit to tomb raider to bio shock back to wii sports. if anyone says they're a waste of time, they need to do some more research. (smiling)
Complete and total waste of time, also one of the most likely causes for obesity in America.
Of course, I happen to suck at video games.
four of my cousins that play video games are super duper smart. the rest that don't play as much as them are average smart. just thought i'd say that haha.
From how my boyfriend plays, video games are a waste of time...Especially if there's something you're supposed to be doing =P
I play World of Warcraft every day, and for many hours on the weekends. It's how I can interact with my family members who all live in different states. I met my husband gaming. He is the one, in fact, who introduced me to World of Warcraft. I've been playing for about 4 years. We also have a Wii, he has some Steam games, I play Age of Empires sometimes. I was playing video games while I went to college and graduated with honors (at the age of 50).
They're only bad if a person lets them interfere with their life.
This conversation reminds me of when I was a kid and they were saying Rock and Roll music was going to turn my generation into a generation of devil-worshippers doing human sacrifices.
No way. They're fun and I play online and on consoles.
Read a book called Everything Bad Is Good For You by Steven Johnson. His section on videos games pretty much says that video games train your mind to make critical decisions under certain amounts of time.
Hello no! Video gaming is something to do! >=D
...Rather than do nothing. Boredom kills you know?
My playstation 3, Call of Duty 4, and world at war, Fallout 3, and etc. Are my best friends =D
I've got pink controller gripper, and a bluetooth mic.
Video games are not more of a waste of time than watching tv, at least i'm doing something.
HAHAHAHAHA! No! Left 4 Dead is awesome! But I'm in Street fighter mode now. -.-
Starting on Halo Wars though =] Video games are soooo not a waste of time, they ARE my time! haha
I'm sorry but I need that personal time where I can forget all gender bias and sit in undies playing Fall Out 3 for hours at a time.... it makes me feel like I could handle the wastelands. I'm a huge fan of games, and I don't feel like they waste my time in the slightest. (most likely because I either escape reality by reading, gaming, writing, or through my own imagination) I really feel like it is just as entertaining (if not more) than watching a movie. And being a big reader, sometimes games incorperate you in a story just as much as words. Just like any hobby, you have to keep it in moderation compared to your life. Still, the stories and even social interaction of games can be a great enhancement to your life, if you're willing to try it.
.. Not to mention I can now safely say Resident Evil has prepared me for the zombie apocolypse.
one of these days, I'm going to break my roommate's computer. he plays left 4 dead and he's on his mic like yelling at people and shit. like wtf? it's a game. I would reach through the computer and slap your punk ass. I keeps it real. haha
I love games too, but I don't yell at people unless I'm playing nba live/or madden and I'm yelling about my useless computer controlled teammates.
No, not a waste of time - especially strategy games.
As long as they are played in moderation, I don't care. I own a 360 but I hardly ever use it. If I do touch a console it's at my boyfriend's house or his friend's house.
v games are never a waste of time.
I don't think games are a waste of time. I play games everyday and so does my boyfriend. I don't really play online games. With having dial up it's kind of hard to, but when I get highspeed I'll probably start playing online so right now I just play on consoles.
i dont think they are a waste of time, i think they rock hahaha
you can do them instead of drugs or stuff ahaha
nitendo wii can replace gym don't you think?
nah. it's not a waste of time. it is a great way to unwind! and you could play with your loved ones =P man l4d rocks so hard.
no, the only problem i have with video games is they cost too much =P
