It's a sad day for men who love girls in bikinis!
Katrina Darrell (aka Bikini Girl) got booted off
American Idol Wednesday night during the Hollywood rounds.
B.G. had a rough go of it on the show. The new judge (
Kara Dioguardi), who happens to be a slightly older woman, hated her from the start. She was constantly putting Katrina down for trading on her looks.
Last night, Bikini Girl's flame-out was epic. Every girl in her group hated her, Kara Dioguardi hated her, and she kind of did herself in by acting like a spoiled brat for the entire episode.
Personally, I subscribe to the "If you got it, flaunt it" school of thought on girls in bikinis.
Why do you think the female judges hated her so much? Maybe the male judges would have pushed harder for her to stay if she'd gotten completely nude?
Now that she's gone, is there really any reason to keep watching the show? I hear the demographics for young dudes is way down this year. Don't you think giving ol' Katrina the boot isn't really helping things?
Should a show keep a contestant to increase ratings? Are you more likely to watch
American Idol if it had girls in bikinis trying to sing?

Jealousy. *shrug*
Women are haters that's why.
Hell yes I would watch it more if there was an increased amount of chicks with bikinis.
There has been a sharp decline in sexiness of the other gender on that show and I feel like I can rely on bikini girls to make up for that.
"If you've got it, flaunt it" is RIGHT.
She isn't that great looking and there are better singers. That's what I saw. Just a cheap little piece in a 2 piece trying to buy her way in with her bod. Nobody gives a shit about her.
I wouldn't even hire her to sing Happy Birthday as a Hooters girl.
Too flat and - nothing spectacular.
Sounds to me like the only reason guys watch the show, is to see 'pretty' girls. Personally, I'm not jealous, at all. I think I am more disappointed than anything. Dangit, get a life.

I think its a singing comp not a beauty pageant. If it was a hot guy up there in a speedo, everyone would be saying the guy judges were jealous. She was a spoiled rich girl who thought it would be cute to go on American Idol, act like a stuck up model and sing. She will probably try to cash in a get a modeling gig next, which was probably the point of her whole 'audition'.
Yes, I think a person who has it should flaunt it, but if she had walked into the audition wearing that lil black number she wore Wed.. would she have gotten in?
better singers? is that why brittany and christina are making it cause of their awesome voices and skimpy skimpy outfits? yes, definitely the voices
If the women were in bikinis I would finally start watching. carrie underwood in a bikini would have drawn my attention. this is america right? sex sells in america...and a decent voice whose vibrato isn't so incredibily oscillating
Did you just hear...that Playboy wants her. drooooool
@Lesabre500@xanga - I don't watch the show, but from the picture above, you're right. Nothing special there except a nice tan.
On the other hand, they call it sex appeal for a reason. It appeals. Only in the most serious of situations does it not bring more wonderfulness to the room, like funerals.
Ooh, you think Kara said those comments because she wore a bikini and was jealous of her figure? Kara is much more secure and mature than that. The competition does not have a swimsuit round for shallow people like Katrina. If you had listened to 'Bikini Girl' instead of drooling over her, you would have heard she wasn't much of a talent. Close your eyes and imagine she's a boring nobody. Does she sound HALF as good? I didn't think so. Let's face it - the eyes can't hear a thing! Bikini Girl wasn't horrible, but she sounded just as phony as she looked.
Good riddance! She was a mockery of the show. Did she honestly believe she deserved respect after showing up in the itsy bitsy bikini and making out all over Ryan Seacrest? How classy.

@Lesabre500@xanga - That's not very nice.........There is nothing wrong with women who are 'flat', they can't help it. (Unless they go have cosmetic surgery done to get fake stuff put into their bodies, eww.) But I don't like women like this one because of what she was doing (or trying to do). I mean, I understand if you think that 'curvy' women are attractive, but don't hate the one's that aren't; just because a woman is more attractive to you, doesn't mean you should cut her down just for that. Lame! Everyone is different. Not just differnent levels of stupid.

She sounds like an attention whore to me.
@Lesabre500@xanga - I don't think she's that great looking, either. I'd consider her average. And she may be thin enough for a bikini, but she has no apparent muscle tone or definition. "Skinny fat" is not attractive to me.
Bummer. Guess there's no more reason for me to watch anymore.
I'm not inherently opposed to girls in bikinis . . . but let's keep it at the beach or pool, shall we?
WTF does being in a bikini have to do with how well the chick can sing anyway? It doesn't.
Since when is it cool for guys to even give a crap about American Idol ever? I've never watched that crap.
She was a total bitch on the show and she went to bed when all the other girls practiced. She showed up the next day and didn't know any of the moves. More than enough reason to get kicked off. If she were to stay, it would make as much sense as a grandmom working construction.
I do like girls in bikinis, but this is a singing show. Not the Risque strip club down the street. I barely even watch American Idol, but I only know of this one event because of its publicity.
She wasn't that good of a singer though. I loved watching her...believe you me, but they threw in that totally uneccessary group round so they could thin the herd a bit. I hate the group round. It only exists because the gayest of the gay hated last year's format that ditched the group round in favor of real musicianship.
She blew it for herself though. The only reason Simon and Randy pushed her through was her looks, which were outstanding. But, sometimes you gotta be real.
I don't think all young men will tune out. Not with all the flambouyance that's left.....some young men will tune in.
Of that I gotta say....being a performer in musical theater does not entitle you to be a popstar. Musicals are not music. It's merely conversation set to musicwith dancing.
I normally don't watch TV. I saw the show from 3 nights ago because I was at my girlfriend's house. I've gotta say, I heard only a small handful of soso to decent singers. Bikini girl was not one of those soso or better singers. She sounded like Gwen Steffani with a dry sore throat. The only thing about her looks was what she was wearing. I didn't like watching Baywatch, so what good does girls in bikinis do for American Idol? Personally, I'd rather be working out or playing video games than watching American Idol, with or without the girls in skimpy outfits idea.
American Idol is a contest to see who is the best singer, not the best bikini model. I don't watch the show because it just doesn't appeal to my interests to watch horrible singers, ever. Even if the show was all hot models in tiny thong bikinis singing badly I still wouldn't watch it because bad singing annoys the crap out of me. If you wanna see more girls in bikinis watch a Hawaiian Tropics bikini contest, if you wanna see people sing watch American Idol, don't combine the two for ratings, it just makes the show lose credibility.
@Casbahmaniac@xanga - The group round is, like you said, to weed out the herd. But it also shows whether or not you are a good team player and if you work well with others. I mean, in order to make a good deal, you have to compromise sometimes, right? But, all in all, people like her don't deserve to make it to the top.
shes lanky and awkward looking. and a spoiled brat who clearly thinks shes better than everyone else. she needs to get over herself, as do all of you.
That girl had an OK voice -- not great. She had a seriously bratty personality {the way she treated the girls in her group after trying to patch things up a little was horrible! She was like "I'm not into all this fake mushy-mushy stuff...... this is so fake. It's just not me."} The show is about the whole package -- personality, talent, star-quality.... yeah, so you guys think she had a great body. OK. That doesn't mean she should be the star of a singing show.
Although the way she acted is a well known personality among some americans, I wouldn't want her to represent america's singing talent as the American Idol. But I guess the american pride part of the show flew out the window since season 2 or 3.
P.S. It's a singing competition, and the female judges wanted to keep that straight. Or the producers wanted to create some drama.
i think theres a time to "flaunt it" and a time to not and american idol is probably not a good time. how can anyone take her singing seriously if shes half naked all the time? thats what the show is about, isnt it? oh well though. i dont even watch the show.
