  • Difference Between Guys and Girls: Wearing the Same Thing

Ok, this is another installment in how guys are so different from girls, and that its amazing that these creatures can even hook up and get married and produce more little people...

Wearing the same shirt at a party.

GIRL'S REACTION: Upon seeing the other person wearing the same exact shirt, the girl tenses up and is automatically disgusted at the spectacle.

    • First reaction is, "I wonder if anyone will notice."
    • Second reaction: "Who came into the club first?"
    • Third reaction: "I wonder how much she paid for it?"
    • Fourth and final reaction: "She's a B*TCH!" and then throughout the rest of the night, the two avoid each other at all costs.

GUY'S REACTION: Upon seeing the other person, the guy is is confused whether he is looking at a mirror.

    • First reaction: "DUDE! That's no mirror! He's wearing the same friggin SHIRT!"
    • Second reaction: (he walks up to the other guy) "DUDE! Nice taste! GREAT SHIRT!" while the other guy reciprocates and hugs this random dude, laughing and smiling.
    • Third reaction: They ponder for a second if they're long lost brothers.
    • Fourth reaction: They buy each other beers and hang out for the rest of the night, for they have just found their best friend of the night.

Have you ever had this experience at a party?

Hahahaha YES! You got that right on! I love when I go to a party with a female friend and she's wearing the same thing as someone else, or almost wore the same thing. Either way, they make a HUGE deal out of the situation and talk about it the rest of the night.

However, I've been to parties where I've found someone wearing my same shirt and we definitely start talking. We don't care, on the contrary, it's almost like a compliment... AND it's an ice breaker to meet someone new.

well in any case, it's pretty embarrassing. i went to my friends senior prom and i didn't know anyone there besides a few of his guy friends and by the time we arrived at prom, i saw a tall white girl wearing the EXACT same dress as I. I was horrified. I kept my distance fromher.

I found out that she left in the middle of the party. People told me it was cause we were wearing the same thing. Wasn't so sure if they were serious or joking. Turns out they weren't joking.

Hahahahaha! Classic. Love it. Agree 100%

I've gotten certain shirts from school and volunteer work and then went to school wearing them only to see another guy or girl is wearing the same thing. No biggie.

when I went to prom this other girl had the same dress as me just in a different color. I don't think anyone noticed but me and I just laughed. She chose yellow and white. ew.
    anyways, I don't react in any of the ways you mentioned. I would just laugh and if we ever came to a conversation I'd say something like;
    "Hey nice shirt!"

I'm a girl and I don't care if someone else wears the same stuff as me. Who cares? It's just clothes... they keep us warm.

  • bluedreamer85@xanga

hahha i usually compliment the other girl...because she will always look better in it than me..

    so no embarassment...

    style comes in many ways...=)

HAHA somehow i can't picture guys doing that
unless its like, a band shirt in which they like the same band hha

  • irene408@xanga

@StylishMudd@xanga - I also ran into this girl who worn the same exact dress as I did at my senior prom.  I avoided her for the rest of the night.  XD

  • lastlyfirst@xanga

i've actually gone up to girls wearing the same shirt or shoes and said, "nice outfit/shoes!" the only time i'm a wee bit embarrassed is if the girl looks better in it. then i tend to say to whomever i'm with, "aw man. she looks better."

    no bitchiness needed.

When I saw a girl at my sophomore year homecoming wearing the same dress as I was, I had a friend take a picture of us together.  I generally find it funny when I'm wearing the same thing as someone else.

  • emra_cadaver@xanga

wow, this is pretty funny. i usually like to customize my clothes or i try to find places that people don't normally shop at to come up with my outfits. but you're right. guys handle it more gracefully. i really would be a little uncomfortable if that happened, again.

  • just_the_average_jane@xanga

Hahaha...I never understood why girls were so horrified at wearing the same thing.  So true though --I know a lot of dress shops even keep a list so that girls can avoid showing up to prom in the same dress.  Funny post.

  • RoidBear@xanga

This hasn't happened to me before, but it'd probably tell the other guy he has good taste in shirts lol

  • methodElevated@xanga

I experience neither reaction.  Who really gives a damn if you happen to be wearing the same thing?  Stop freaking out and giving yourself high blood pressure over trivial things.

  • LadyLibellule@xanga

I don't think I would care that much.  It would be an icebreaker (for me, anyway... apparently, a lot of women are really bothered by this sort of thing).

  • Mirravin@xanga

he hee, so true! and hilarious!

  • surveynoob@xanga

Haha. It is true for most cases. But, finding someone with the same outfit or whatever could end up in a really really good thing, or a really really bad thing.

  • the_world_to_you@xanga

hahaha, thats happened to me before.

  • xtine015@xanga

haha so true. that has so happend to mee before. crazyee.

  • just_melmel@xanga

hmm why is that?  maybe it's the double standard...

coz i've experienced it, and i do remember getting irked by it, not the whole night.  knowing me i'd prolly walk by her, so that she saw me wearing the same shirt too, just to annoy her...if it worked. at least i'll know i'm not the only bothered.. hahaha and then go on and have a good time.

  • Broken_Beautiful@xanga

Lol!!  I guess it all depends on who's wearing the same shirt.  If I don't know the person, I'll say, "I'm hotter," in a sarcastic manner to my friends...we usually have a lil laugh about it.  If I know the person and I like that person, it's not a huge dealio, but I don't like the person, when I say "I'm hotter," I mean it.  Lol!  It's like an insult for some reason and I'm not sure why...lol.  You'd think we'd be more mature...  **shrugs**

  • OnlyForYoohx3@xanga

LOL! although I can say that some girls maybe like that NOT all of us would react like that. It has happened to me a couple times and I normally joke around with the person saying that we planned it and stuff=). now if it was a girl i didn't like... that would be a different story

  • melancholy_of_a_white_rose@xanga

this happened to me in hs. i went home early because i was so embarrassed.
