The Notebook came up a few times here on
Mancouch, and let me tell you something, every guy should watch that movie at least once.
I had a girl friend call it a panty dropper, although I don’t agree with the assessment, I do believe it can help a guy in the long run.
Most women, no matter how hurt they’ve been in the past, hope to have someone love them just as much as Noah (
Ryan Gosling) does.
By watching the movie, your genuinely showing you can be that guy. Most guys, no matter how much they deny it, have that side to them.
You won’t show it around your boys, you’ll even dog the movie for being so stupid, but when you’re around your girl, you’re a different person.
You love them and you’ll do things like play with her hair, or even have pet names.
You’ll even argue and then go bitch about it to your friends, saying how much you hate her but deep inside you just want to hold her again.
Okay, so you saw the movie but it didn’t help, instead she called you soft, and ended up dumping you, it’s not such a big deal. Why?
Well because you’ve discovered a part of yourself you didn’t think existed.
This can only make you better with the next girl. Most girls like excitement and adventure, which is why they’ll date the “bad boy” but in the end girls get tired of it.
They want stability and if you can show them a side they haven’t been exposed to, you’re golden.
So fellas, when your girl suggests the movie (heck you can even take the initiative and suggest it), just watch it and enjoy.
Trust me it’s not so bad, and I’m pretty sure you’ve seen worse movies than
The Notebook.
Hell you might even get lucky like my friend’s BF, who got her to drop her panties for him after he saw it with her. (Results vary, does not work with every girl)
Have you seen The Notebook with your significant other? Was it so bad? What about getting lucky?

Lol my boyfriend would never watch that... He's not very romantic at all...
Nicholas Sparks is absolutely amazing.
Actually, when I worked for blockbuster in my younger years, I definately told a couple of my guy friends that it was a definate makeout movie if nothing else. Results may vairy on the panty popping, but lord knows it sure helps.
Anything that drops panties is fine by me...
fuck the notebook.
fuck almost all romantic mushy movies, really.
i love my boyfriend, but, if he were to *seriously suggest it, i'd call him crazy.
i've never seen the whole movie through. i keep falling asleep.
give me something gorey with lots of boobs. that'll keep me happy.
The Notebook is a steaming crock of shit. It's boring, dull, cliche, and the dialogue is dreadful and cheesy.
If you want a romantic comedy, watch When Harry Met Sally. It's romance done smart(er) and done right.
my bf just watched it after i told him that i love that movie so much...he said he wishes that we would never be apart like in the movie...awwww...
Oh god.
My boyfriend refuses to see this movie. He's not a softy. He's a down-right hard ass. And it ANNOYS ME.....
It's not a particularly realistic movie, but it's not so bad. Sure, it's a bit cheesy in its idealism, but I guess it's nice to believe that there is a love like that out there.
hmmm... anyway i did enjoy the movie... well, i enjoy most movies basically, so....
omg the noteboookkk...thats one good f----- movie and twilight and wuthering heights and pride and prejudice. =]
I hated that movie. And I'm a girl.
i thought the movie was a little overdone ("i'm a bird!"? what the fuck?) and i'm a girl.
but that's just me, lol.
Not every guy has that soft side to them. Some are legitimate douchebags 24/7. Don't mistake a toning down of the douchebaggery for genuine kindness or softheartedness.
Also, mancouch WHAT THE FUCK? Ads for leather men's underwear? C'mon!
@LightningRichy@xanga - we don't put those up, google does, but if we did, it would be the entire outfit, including the leather underwear
I love The Notebook, I know just about every line. It came on tv one day wile me and my boyfriend were flipping channels, and I made him watch it :) he kinda liked it- or at least told me he did. He suggested we watch P.S. I Love You, I think thats a panty dropper too ;)
Notebook? Never, ever heard of it.
@abcxunt@xanga - I FELL ASLEEP TOO! everyones like omg the notebook is the best movie ever blah blah but i fell aslepe after the first 20 minutes of it. and then i saw the end and i pretty much guessed wat happened.
I'm all for romantic movies... but I just didn't like The Notebook.....
i would be so happy if a guy would watch the notebook with me haha
watch the notebook for her
and then make her watch something she'd hate
find the goriest thing you can find
hey it's only fair right?
what the fuck happened to compromise
if you can't do that in a relationship, well then honestly you don't have a relationship
"I'm pretty sure you've seen worse movies than The Notebook."
lol, i got talked into seeing mamamia. my opinion=that one is way worse than the notebook, (although i maintain that i would be better off never having watched either of them...)
@Stabyou2@xanga - good idea, btw. im doing that.
